Hulk’s Guacamole

Hulk’s Guacamole

Hulk’s Guacamole, It’s Green it’s bold it’s silky, delicate at times, fun to be around, and even a little spicy. It is everything that would make the big guy proud.

The name Hulk’s Guacamole started when I was making it with my kids one day and it was all about the Smashing. This velvety green food is sooo tasty and easy to make but Guacamole is also fun to make. There are no knife skills required, mixology science or complicated techniques all you need to do is SMASH like the Hulk.

The Star of the Show

Of course to start we need a couple of beautiful ripe Avocados. Without this delicious Green fruit what would be the point in calling it Hulk’s Guacamole.

A Hint to Avoid Runny Guacamole

The rest of the ingredients are quite simple, no need for fancy knife skills here. The only recommendation I have before you dice the Tomato is to remove the seeds. If you leave the seeds the guacamole will still taste delicious but might become a bit wet. The Cilantro and Green Onion can be roughly chopped and all you need to do with the lime is squeeze.

Sambal, jalapeno, hot sauce

The Heat

And Finally we have the Trio Of Heat. Use one use all, it’s entirely up to you. They each come with a different heat level and style. The Jalapeño will have a slow delay before it hits you while your favourite Hot Sauce might knock the roof off after a couple seconds. My secret ingredient is Sambal which I have to give my wife full credit for. The heat both hits right away and delays plus the the hint of garlic adds a nice touch. I will give you my recipe but the level of heat you must decide for yourself.

How to Improve Your Cooking Skills

“Mise en Place” or everything in its place is one thing you will hear from me a lot. Nothing will increase your enjoyment and quality of cooking faster then learning to do your prep before you cook. So we will start with cutting our Limes in half and chopping up our Lovely Tomatoes, Cilantro and Green Onion. If you are using Jalapeno’s now would be a good time to chop them too, I use the tip of the Jalapeno to finely chop about 1 tsp.

HULK SMASH

Next is the Avocado, the star of the show. After cutting the Avocado in half take a knife and slice the flesh in several directions without cutting through the skin. This will create smaller pieces to Smash after you’ve scooped the flesh out with your spoon.

Once the flesh has been scooped into a bowl, or a mortar and pestle, add the juice of half a Lime to prevent oxidation and SMASH!! The back of a spoon a potato masher or your mortar and pestle will work. Whatever you have available no need to be fancy here.

Mexican, Enchiladas

Once you have SMASHED to your liking, chunky or smooth, add the rest of the ingredients mix and serve.

– Voilà Hulk’s Guacamole –

Hulk's Guacamole

Smash your way to delicious creamy heaven.
Prep Time15 minutes
Course: Appetizer, Side Dish, Simple Bites, Snack
Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

  • 1 Roma Tomato Diced
  • 1/4 Cup Cilantro Chopped
  • 1 Green Onion Chopped
  • 1/4 tsp Jalapeno Finely Chopped
  • 1-2 Limes
  • 2 Avocado
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Hot Sauce
  • Sambal ( Thai Chili Sauce )

Instructions

  • Start by dicing the Roma Tomatoes then chopping the Cilantro, Green Onion and Jalapeno, if using.
  • Cut the Avocado in half then take a knife and slice the flesh in several directions without cutting through the skin. No need to be fancy we will be smashing after this. The smaller pieces will make the task of smashing  a little easier if the Avocado is not fully ripe.
  • After cutting the Avocado take a spoon and scoop the flesh into a bowl or mortar and squeeze 1/2 of a Lime in with the Avocado. The reason we do this is because we don't want brown guacamole and the acid in the Lime helps prevent the Avocado from oxidizing.
  • Now......  SMASH  ...... you can leave large chunks or continue to smash until it is creamy, personally i like to have a few chunks of avocado to bite into.
  • Finally add the remaining ingredients in with your Avocado. Diced Tomato, Cilantro, Green Onion, Jalapeno and whatever Hot Sauces you wish, plus a  little pinch of Salt & Pepper. I usually add a couple dashes of Franks Red Hot and about 1 ts of Sambal along with the ts of Jalapeno.
  • Grab your Favourite Corn chips or top off your Chicken Enchiladas with this delight and Enjoy!
