Candied pecans with turmeric
Want a snack with just a hint of exotic flavour, just that hint of spice, try Candied Pecans with Turmeric. These are not like the store bought Candied Nuts that taste like they had a can of Coke dumped on them.
A subtle hint of Turmeric and Ginger and a whiff of Cinnamon. The very light touch of Honey and the golden goodness of Coconut. Candied Pecans with Turmeric go great in Salads like Arugula with Pear and Blue Cheese .
The Turmeric balances nicely with the Pear Cider Vinaigrette and Sultan Raisins. Plus they’re very easy to make which is why we are all here, right 🙂 .
spicing and roasting
Place the Coconut Oil and Honey in a small bowl and melt in the microwave for approximately 30 seconds. Add the Turmeric, Ground Ginger and Cinnamon to the Coconut Oil and mix.
Pour the Coconut Oil over the Pecans and mix, making sure all the Pecans get coated… we don’t want any naked guys or gals hanging out.
Spread the Pecans on a parchment lined baking sheet and lightly dust the top with Brown Sugar. Don’t be overly generous but try to hit everyone, we don’t want dessert, just a nice snack.
At 350° F, on the bottom rack roast for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes give the Pecans a toss so they all get a shot at the heat. Back in the oven for another 6 minutes but keep an eye on them after 3 – 4 more minutes to make sure they don’t burn.
Pull them out, let them cool off and you have a party snack ready to go.
A Pecan and an Almond walk into a bar,
The bartender tells them ” I can’t serve you, you’re nuts “
