SHAWARMA SPICE MIX

Having a homemade Shawarma Spice mix waiting in the cupboard is a great way to simplify your life and eat healthily. Sometimes I find eating healthy and “simple” difficult to do. Usually, foods that simplify your life are foods you shouldn’t consume in the first place.

For example, let’s look at Ketchup, now I love my Heinz …. BUT … 😛 ….. If you were to make a yummy homemade Ketchup it would probably be much, MUCH healthier.
You might decide to leave out Corn Syrup … OR EVEN BETTER lol, High Fructose Corn Syrup … whatever that is? Hmmm, why in the world does it need two versions of Corn Syrup? I know ADDICTION lol.
You might also decide to customize your own “NATURAL FLAVORINGS”, whatever that term might include.

All that talk about Ketchup when you came here for a Shawarma Spice recipe. If you were my kids you’d probably be asleep by now lol.
Children aren’t happy without something to ignore, and that is what parents are for!

So why did I use Ketchup as an example, because I find most packaged/premade foods have something we shouldn’t be eating. Does it stop me from eating them, Hell NO lol, but none the less I’m aware of it.
But … if I’m given two options I’ll take the one that tastes great, manages to help simplify my life and is healthy. And one of those things is….. Drum roll please Brr-rr-rr-rr-rr-rr!
SHAWARMA SPICE !!!!!
The SHAWARMA SPICE mix
Shawarma Spice is something I can make ahead of time, fill a mason jar, and use when needed for a quick meal. Shawarma Spice will store for months in a sealed container, mixed with some cut-up chicken bites and roasted at a high temp you will have a delicious quick snack or meal.

Many Middle Eastern spice mixes use similar Spices but there is an art to creating a nice blend. A nice blend is usually determined in the number of spices used, or the complexity of the blend, and the ratio of each spice used, which flavours are dominant.
Variety is the spice of life
In my Shawarma Spice blend, there is a fairly even distribution of flavour, but Paprika, Turmeric, Cumin, and Garlic tend to take the lead.
The Recipe is easy, add all the ingredients into a bowl or jar. Mix or shake until there is a uniform color, and store in the cupboard until ready to use. Seriously how much easier does it get than that? Quick, Easy, Healthy, a true trifecta, plus it tastes great 😛 . Enjoy!
